After id Software finished developing the second expansion for Doom Eternal, The Ancient Gods: Part Two, in 2021, the entire team went silent. However, over the past three years, developers have been working on their next major project, which has now been revealed as the complete sixth installment of this iconic series. The game Doom: The Dark Ages was featured in the trailer that players could watch at this year's Xbox Games Showcase.

It's worth noting that although we had to wait until today for the official confirmation of this project's existence, we already knew for some time that id Software was creating the next Doom. We learned the title of the game at the end of May; at that time, rumors also appeared suggesting that the title would be based on the Middle Ages.

Doom: The Dark Ages will be released in 2025 on PC, PS5, and XSX/S. On the day of the premiere, the game will also be available on PC/Xbox Game Pass.
